Cool Head, Warm Heart – How meditation and mindfulness work togetherwith Graham Williams
Are meditation and mindfulness the same thing?
This workshop answers this question and shows how they are designed to work together. In Buddhist meditation traditions there are at least three different words with clear and precise definitions that have all been translated as meditation.
Mindfulness also has its own definition. You will be introduced to the map into which they all fit, and which shows their different goals.
The workshop will also explore how our emotions work and how to make good decisions using meditation – how to combine a cool head with the empathy and care of a warm heart.

Dr. Graham Williams is the Founder and Director of the Lifeflow Meditation Centre in Adelaide. Trained in the Tibetan and Burmese Buddhist meditation traditions, he has more than 35 years of teaching experience. Graham is also a concert pianist with a Ph.D in music and trained in Paris with Olivier Messiaen and Yvonne Loriod.
Although trained in Buddhist traditions, Graham has always seen meditation as a discipline and a skill, not a belief. Therefore, he created a curriculum of meditation practice and jargon-free theory that is easy to learn while retaining depth and richness. Combining the discoveries of neuroscience and psychology with the rich practice and experience of the meditation tradition, this curriculum provides a completely integrated practice for physical and mental health, personal development and spiritual growth. And it is uniquely Australian in that it embraces our natural environment and Australian art and music.
